Whew!

The election is over and WE didn't win.

Yes, friends and enemies, the election is over and we collectively did not win. I don't think we would have won had the other side gotten elected either. The downhill path would only have changed in slope and not direction.

What makes me think I see the future, perhaps its education, training, and time. Education? mostly that education provided to me by my elders. Those that lived thru really hard times and know what to look for. We... me and you... have not lived thru hard times. OK, some of us thought we were at times. It will turn out that looking back, might think of them as trying times vs hard times.

Has freedom taken a hit, You bet. America the Beautiful may indeed have reached the peak and is sliding down the other side. Countries do that. The deal here is that it was hot summer going up the hill, lots of sweat and toil. Going down the hill seems like winter snows have made sledding speedy. Schussing we go.

Perhaps you will say, "Whats wrong with Socialism, anyway?".... Actually, this is a hard question to be specific on. It is not, however, the freedom to go from rags to riches by hard work and a little luck. Thats what we use to do here. The stories are historic, but then most of you younger sprouts don't know it because teaching history and social studies got replaced with African American Studies, Women Studies, Environmental Studies, Sociology, American Indian Studies...etc. It is not placing your future directly in your hands, sink or swim is up to you and circumstance (i.e. luck). It appears as though a majority of occupants (I almost said citizens) of this country want to have it given to them. Remember the Obama phone clip.

"The problem with socialism," Margaret Thatcher once said, "is that you eventually run out of other people's money."

That, of course, refers to redistribution of wealth.  If you take away from those that have to give to those that don't, the pool gets smaller and smaller as those that had, don't have. At some point those that have are gone. Either the money ran out or they departed the tax zone. I.e. moved. The utopian end is that everybody is equal in wealth somehow. Which bring up the question "Why work" if it will be taken away from you. Then we have forced labor????

It is my belief that the Entitlement/Gimme Gimme voters now outnumber the people that build wealth, hire people, donate to charities, and actually WORK are outnumbered.

Ben FranklinWhen the people find that they can vote themselves money, that will herald the end of the republic. B.Franklin (American)

If you believe Ben, then we have arrived. What to do??? While millions of people are thrilled at all this, some understand that the only way forward includes DOWN as the Y direction. But how steep the slope?  Contributing factors include:

  • When taxes on the "rich" actually kick in and like California and NY reach the 50% tax rate (or above like France), what will they do? Those with the ability will reposition in another country. Some will reduce workers to get under a line in the sand, some will just reduce everything or just quit altogether.

  • Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.
