New Orleans Crime is uncontrolable...send in the Guard

The result of unintended consequences. Remember this post from Sept '11.

Danziger Bridge Shootings - Remember cops shot people in the heat of an emergency. That happens. Wrong folks get killed in war and any severe emergency where regular law breaks down. Remember the pics of looters taking things that they couldn't even use. Then sitting at the Cajun dome for someone to rescue them. School buses sitting idle cause no trained, union drivers..... how stupid. All this is gonna happen again, you know. I think their biggest crime (mistake) is trying to cover it up.

Unintended Consequences - Cops are gonna be real careful about who they shoot. Look the other way if its close. Bad guys coming to your area may just get a pass. If you thinks cops are bad, call a hippe or your local drugge. OR perhaps, dare I suggest, PREPARE TO DEFEND YOURSELF... what a novel idea.

Perhaps Here It IS... Put yourself in this scenario:

You are a cop in New Orleans. You are a good cop as well as a good person with all the right motivations and values. You watch fellow cops get sent to prison for shooting the wrong people in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. You didn't shoot nobody but it was really wild and wooly even where you were. You can imagine yourself in the situation where, when things are going crazy, you do what you do in the instant. Then, things calm down and some District Attorney (that spent the storm in safety) wants to prosecute you for murder or any crime. After a stare at the ceiling talk with your spouse, you begin to think of another way to make a living or at the very least begin to think.....when things get bad, find some other place to investigate. In Vietnam they called it "Search and Evade".... Now back in the Big Easy, the bad guys begin to figure this out and we have today and tomorrow. Same politicians that condemned the cops are wanting to call in the National Guard to restore law and order. What they are asking for is Martial Law, ain't it???? Isn't that what North Korea has???...

A cop or person in New Orleans is no longer willing to take a risk to protect the public. They and U are gonna protect themselves. Perhaps, me thinks, I'll go inspect the basement of the public library for possible burglaries, then go back to the cop shop and write a very long detailed report on finding nothing. Course I'll have to rewrite it a number of times, so this may take a while..... I'm a good cop.... and a live one. I'll be home for supper again tonight. ..... is this a probable story?? I think it has merit, myself.
